MEETINGS

WHAT'S ON THE AGENDA FOR THE MONTH?

Our BETA Club meets once a month in the Learning Commons - unless told otherwise - after school to discuss upcoming events and/or participate in a service activity. Attendance is recorded and counts toward the 10 hours of service we require from our members. That being said, we understand that members may miss meetings or want a refresher on the information they learned, so down below are links to the PowerPoints outlining the agenda for each monthly meeting.

INDUCTION

In September, BETA Club hosts its Induction Ceremony and Installation of Officers, where friends and family are invited to welcome our newest members. Invitations to candidates are sent out in August, and we hope all who receive this distinction join us. Students are encouraged to don business casual dress and be prepared to receive a pin and certificate.

DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL

BETA's descend upon Lake Lanier as volunteers for this aquatic event. Tasks include:

  •

LIGHT THE NIGHT

During the fall, BETA is invited by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to go to Athens, Georgia and honor and remember those who fight cancer. Volunteers are highly encouraged to bring walking shoes as we take an evening to march against cancer.

JENNY'S GARDEN

West Hall High School's memory is long, which is why BETA maintains Jenny's Garden, a symbol and place of commemoration for the alumni who leave us too early. Stay tuned for dates when you can help care for our garden.

CHARITY DRIVES

Throughout the school year, multiple drives are held in our high school. Whether with non-perishable foods or necessities for pets, we can contribute to those in need. See an officer or the BETA bulletin boards for specifics as to whether your donations will help you fulfill our club's hour requirements.

SPORTS GAMES

As our Spartans step up to the plate this school year, volunteer opportunities arise in selling concessions. See the BETA bulletin boards for specifics as to dates and sign up sheets. Go Spartans!

POINSETTIAS & TEACHER APPRECIATION

This winter season, help spread the cheer by attending the monthly meeting where we take time to write messages of gratitude for our teachers and staff. You have the option of purchasing poinsettias for your teacher(s) as well, which will be delivered by your BETA officers. Stay tuned for more information.

BETA BRACELETS: FUNDRAISERS

My Intent bracelets make cute accessories, especially when you customize them yourself. BETA's can participate in this fundraiser either by selling, buying, or making them, or even all three. Funds go to paying for events such as Convention, which we highly encourage members to attend. Stay tuned for when production of these bracelets begins.

DRESS CONSIGNMENT

BETA wants every girl to have the opportunity to attend our school's dances without having dress shopping be a hindrance. Therefore, we ask that BETA's spread the word about this event, where we collect dress donations and sell them at the price selected by the donor. Stay tuned for more information at our monthly meetings as dance seasons approach.

POWDERPUFF

Girls face off in this game of flag football where grade levels clash and only one arises as the victor. On the sidelines, boys take the role of cheerleaders and coaches. While BETA organizes this event, Powderpuff is open for the whole school to participate, and we encourage all BETA's invite their friends and come enjoy a battle that has long been brewing. Stay tuned for more information.
